Meet Laura, a seasoned dog owner and trainer with over three decades of experience working with and training high drive intelligent dog breeds.
Laura is also a professional communications consultant (formerly a university professor), a Search and Rescue volunteer, and an avid outdoor adventurer who rarely goes anywhere without a dog or tw

Laura is also a professional communications consultant (formerly a university professor), a Search and Rescue volunteer, and an avid outdoor adventurer who rarely goes anywhere without a dog or two!
Laura has successfully competed with her dogs in scent work, rally obedience, agility, and dock diving at the local, regional and national levels.
Her expertise shines in training dogs to become good citizens. Laura focusses on developing well-mannered and socially adept dogs that are confident and happy in their unique environments. To put simply, she works to meet the needs of the dog and its people.
Her training principles focus on mental stimulation, positive reinforcement, play-based learning, and stress management.

The full course split over two evenings where you will get hands-on learning in multiple scenarios using dummy dogs.
In this course, you will learn how to properly take vital signs, what they mean, and why you should know your dog's normal.
You will learn about prevention, wound care, CPR techniques, and more! Topics such as toxic plants and dangerous medications (and how to respond if your dog ingests them), basic nutrition, exercise, and dental and nail care are all part of the course.
You will also learn how to safely restrain an injured dog and prepare them for transport. You will even go home with your own personalized Elizabethan collar!
By the end of the course, you'll have gained invaluable insights and a sense of confidence to manage your dog's health and safety.
Included is a 130-page manual and an Emergency Canine First Aid Certificate.

Advanced Canine First Aid

A full-day classroom course where you will get hands-on learning in multiple scenarios using dummy dogs.
This advanced first aid course builds on the information learned in Emergency First Aid and will help you learn how to assist your dog in more severe or remote circumstances where veterinary care is not immediately available.
This course is designed for those who hike, camp, or live in remote areas and may find themselves in situations that require immediate action and advanced care.
In addition to a review of CPR and emergency first aid practices, you will learn how to deal with such things as animal attacks, impalements, choking, drug overdoses, shock, and weather-related trauma.
This course includes a 120-page manual and an Advanced Canine First Aid Certificate.

This 3-hour course is designed for children 5-12 and covers how to be safe around dogs and how to help in an emergency.
In this course children learn about basic dog care including feeding, exercising, and grooming. They will also learn how to read a dog's body language, identify signs of illness or injury, and practice basic bandaging.
This is an excellent course for all children whether they have a pet dog of their own or they interact with dogs at other people's homes or out in public.
All children will receive a booklet and a certificate of completion.

First Aid Fundamentals

A 3 hour course that covers the essentials of canine emergency first aid practices from prevention to injury and illness assessment to basic wound care. This short course equips dog owners with useful information to better care for their canine companions.
